ECO CLUB

ECO CLUB INAUGURATION

PSG College of Nursing had the official inauguration of ‘Eco Club’ on 3 rd November 2006 at 3 p.m. though it was active long before that. Prof.Elizabeth Jean Abraham, Principal, PSG College of Nursing extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and to all gathered. The most respected Managing Trustee Shri G.Rangaswamy presided over the meeting. The Chief Guest of the day Mr.P.C.Tyagi, IFS, Conservator of Forest, Coimbatore addressed the gathering and he explained about the nature and how to improve or retain the nature with colourful illustrations. Ms.Gayathri, IV year B.Sc(N) student expressed her experience with nature in Silent Valley. Ms.Lavanya, IV year B.Sc (N) presented the ‘Nature Today’.

Dr.Subhadra Iyengar, Professor & HOD, Research Department, Programme Co-Ordinator, Eco-Club presented the objectives and proposed activities of Eco-club.  

The IV year B.Sc Nursing students enacted a mime show on ‘Wild call on Nature’ which was well appreciated by every one. At the end, Ms.Merlin Sheeba, IV year B.Sc (N) student proposed the vote of thanks and the programme came to an end at 4.45 p.m.

LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY

Lamp Lighting Ceremony for I year B.Sc(N) students was held on 13.12.2006 at PSG IMS&R Auditorium. The programme started with welcome speech addressed by Prof.Mallika Rajadurai, Professor, PSG College of Nursing. The Chief Guest Prof.Bharathy Jacob, Dean, CMCH, Vellore inaugurated the function. Managing Trustee Shri.G.Rangaswamy of PSG Institutions presided over the ceremony. Prof.Bharathy Jacob and Prof.Elizabeth Jean Abraham, Principal passed over the lights to the young nursing buds. Prof.T.Nirmala, Vice-Principal delivered the Nurses’ pledge to the students. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mrs.Nirmala M, Asst. Professor, PSG College of Nursing.

WORKSHOP ON ‘EMERGING PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEMS – A CHALLENGE TO NURSE’

The workshop on ‘Emerging Public Health Problems – A Challenge to Nurse’ was conducted on 06.01.2007 at the Hospital Auditorium. The workshop was organized by the Community Health Nursing Department. During inauguration, Prof.Malarvizhi G, HOD, Paediatric Nursing Department welcomed the delegates and Prof.Elizabeth Jean Abraham, Principal, PSG College of Nursing gave the inaugural address. The chief guest speaker of the workshop was Dr.Shyamal Biswas, Joint Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Bangalore.

The delegates from other College of Nursing in TamilNadu participated and benefited by the workshop. Certificates were distributed during valediction and the workshop came to an end at 5p.m.

ISO CONTINUING ASSESSMENT BY THE EXTERNAL AGENCY

ISO external auditing was conducted by Auditors from BSI on 21.02.2007 for the 2 nd continuing assessment. The auditing went on successfully and smoothly. No non conformances were identified. The auditors congratulated the Principal that QMS followed in PSG College of Nursing is a very mature system.
